About Abortion Access Front

Founded in 2015 by Lizz Winstead, Abortion Access Front (AAF) uses humor and outrage to destigmatize abortion and expose extremist, anti-choice forces working to destroy access to reproductive rights across the country. AAF fosters a multicultural, multiethnic and gender-fluid team of comedians, writers, producers, activists and volunteers who create content, stage events and build grassroots support for abortion providers that comes from and speaks to a diversity of life experiences. AAF is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, a 501(c)(3) public charity.

 

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Manager drives the organization’s volunteer cultivation and engagement, coordinates community building events and direct actions, assists in clinic support programs, and helps to grow collaborative work with partner organizations.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

      Building out volunteer base, including overseeing and managing vetting of potential volunteers

      Determines volunteer needs, coordinates volunteers, and creates opportunities for involvement in AAF’s areas of work including, but not limited to, community building & outreach, clinic support, direct actions, social media, production, and grassroots fundraising

      Growing volunteer engagement, community building, and leadership development

      Helping facilitate guests from our field for Feminist Buzzkills podcast and live show appearances

      Engages with existing, new, and potential volunteers via email, phone, social media, and in person (as is safe to do so), and creates and updates volunteer recruitment materials and resources, conducting regular orientations, meet & greets; supporting creative volunteers to learn and utilize the AAF tone and brand; identifying and supporting leaders among AAF volunteers

      Manage the Operation Save Abortion Activist Calendar, adding and removing events as necessary and soliciting additional opportunities to share with volunteer base

      Manages and updates volunteer database and other internal tracking systems

      Assist with AAF’s clinic support work, including checking in with clinics and funds on updating their wish-lists and creating wish-lists for new partners

      Supporting our work countering anti-abortion extremists including research, participating in events, and updating our Hypocrites Unmasked content

      Supporting our work countering anti-abortion centers including research, and providing our coalition with updates via Expose Fake Clinics

      Data entry and other tasks associated with documenting program activities

 

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

      Demonstrated commitment and passion for reproductive health, rights, and justice

      Experience in leading volunteer programs

      Demonstrated experience owning and coordinating a program or project with multiple priorities utilizing strong organizational skills

      Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

      Ability to work both independently and as a team with coworkers, partners, and volunteers

      Experience in community organizing or progressive campaign work, particularly in volunteer management & activation

      Experience working with EveryAction, AirTable, or similar CRM/databases is preferred

      Follows trends and updates regarding news in the Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice fields

      Comfort with social media copy creation and familiarity with best practices in this sphere

      Experience using Slack

      Some travel required, as well as flexibility to attend evening and weekend events

Compensation:
Salary range for this position is $58,000 to $63,000 commensurate with experience. Through NEO Philanthropy, this position is offered a full benefits package, including 100% medical coverage for the employee and 90% medical coverage for dependents; 100% coverage for vision, dental, life/AD&D, long-term disability. NEO also offers a 401K retirement savings plan with employer contributions, Healthcare Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA), Medical FSA, Dependent Care FSA, commuter benefits, Employee Assistance Program, other supplemental benefits and paid time off.

Abortion Access Front at NEO follows CDC guidance regarding staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
