About Abortion Access Front

Founded in 2015 by Lizz Winstead, Abortion Access Front (AAF) uses humor and outrage to destigmatize abortion and expose extremist, anti-choice forces working to destroy access to reproductive rights across the country. AAF fosters a multicultural, multiethnic and gender-fluid team of comedians, writers, producers, activists and volunteers who create content, stage events and build grassroots support for abortion providers that comes from and speaks to a diversity of life experiences. AAF is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, a 501(c)(3) public charity that incubates new and innovative public-interest projects and grant-making programs. Position Summary

The Abortion Access Front coordinating producer position is a new position with AAF, and a rewarding and unique opportunity for someone who would like to use their film, TV, or live event experience to help protect abortion access. The main focus of this role will be coordinating, overseeing, and managing all the moving parts of the production of AAF’s live events, recorded media, live streaming, and direct actions, as well as maintaining, and archiving our elements library.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Create and maintain annual, monthly, and project specific production department budgets
  • Responsible for creating and managing production schedule and logistics for live, recorded, and livestream events
  • Identifies new technology for creating and delivering media, and incorporates it into organizational workflow
  • Work with department heads to create and execute all programming – live, recorded, and live streamed
  • Manages our full-time graphic designer, podcast producer, and any production contractors associated with events
  • Implement protocols and update protocol documentation
  • Work with department heads and production team to track and archive elements for productions, campaigns, actions and events.
  • Coordinates with office manager all props, wardrobe, and equipment, and is responsible for getting it to set
  • Works with Office manager to coordinate lodging and travel for all location shoots and events
  • Works with AAF booking agent to finalize talent and event details
  • Working with the Comms department to track performance of media on various platforms, and test new methods of delivery to optimize reach to new audiences

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • 3-5 years of production management in film, television and/or streaming
  • Basic knowledge of livestream platforms (vMix, OBS, ReStream, Crowdcast)
  • Strong budgeting & scheduling skills & software (Asana, Google Calendars, Google sheets)
  • Strong archival organizational skills (Google team drives)
  • Experience in identifying technical equipment needs for live and recorded events and actions
  • Comfortable managing crews from 1-200 people
  • Strong relationships in all areas of production to assemble crews for events, shoots and live streams
  • Ability to find and implement low-cost solutions to complicated technical problems
  • Comfortable producing events under pressure (ie situations confronting volatile anti-abortion extremists)
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule around tentpole events (ex. early mornings, after hours when appropriate).
  • Some travel for location shoots and events
  • Passion for abortion rights
  • Sense of humor

Helpful Skills, But Not Required

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder)
  • Experience working in a political advocacy context, within the reproductive rights movement.
  • Experience in community organizing or progressive political campaigns
  • Technical production or post-production experience

Salary and Benefits

The base salary for this position is $75,000-80,000, commensurate with experience.  Through NEO Philanthropy, this position is offered a full benefits package, including 100% medical coverage for the employee and 90% medical coverage for dependents: 100% coverage for vision, dental, life/AD&D, long-term disability.
