About Abortion Access Front
Founded in 2015 by Lizz Winstead, Abortion Access Front (AAF) uses humor and outrage to destigmatize abortion and expose extremist, anti-choice forces working to destroy access to reproductive rights across the country. AAF fosters a multicultural, multiethnic and gender-fluid team of comedians, writers, producers, activists and volunteers who create content, stage events and build grassroots support for abortion providers that comes from and speaks to a diversity of life experiences. AAF is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, a 501(c)(3) public charity that incubates new and innovative public-interest projects and grant-making programs. Position Summary
The Social Media Manager works with our communications team, led by the Communications Director to create and execute content and strategies that grow the Abortion Access Front online communities. They will work to increase Abortion Access Front’s visibility as the go-to reproductive rights media hub. These strategies must align with the AAF mission of using humor, creativity, and outrage to educate and inform the public about the latest news around abortion and reproductive health rights and justice, as well as promoting AAF events, campaigns, and events. Attend major AAF events to cover, approximately three (3) to six (6) times a year. Candidates must be based in NYC, Philadelphia or the DC-metro areas to attend and work in-person events.
Crafting strategic social media plans to:
- Grow the AAF online audience to engage with our content, actions, trainings, campaigns and events.
- Create and implement promotional campaigns for AAF live events including shows, podcasts, direct actions and fundraisers.
- Responsible for creating, managing, and posting content across all Abortion Access Front online platforms, including websites and social media.
- Responsible for maintaining and executing the AAF Brand across all platforms and outreach campaigns.
- Ability to pivot and adapt plans quickly as the needs of the abortion landscape rapidly changes
Essential Responsibilities:
- Web & Social Media Content
- Create and adapt content for specific online platforms, including but not limited to: TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky and YouTube.
- Understanding of how audiences differ across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and YouTube, and catering to each.
- Design graphics for social posts, websites and events.
- Script, film, and edit mobile videos.
- Update and maintain AAF’s social media best practices manual and brief AAF team on any changes made to our look, tone, or communications practices on our online platforms.
- Maintain the content of all web properties to keep it relevant, current, and engaging.
- Ensure social content is in compliance with our 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
- Engagement Strategies
- Assigning and overseeing engagement with messages and comments on social media.
- Work to maintain, grow and update our existing database of key influencers. We at times ask influencers to boost calls to actions and events.
- Work with the Communications team on engagement strategies and tactics.
- Reporting
- Provide monthly analytic reporting on all AAF social media, website, and application platforms with analysis and suggestions for improvement.
- Create targeted goals for measuring outcomes and benchmarking success in conjunction with staff.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of social media management and website management experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in creating social media campaigns and strategies for networks, organizations, or brands, including promotion for events, fundraising, and programs.
- Experience in rapid response communications.
- Humor and political writing skills.
- Strong knowledge about the political and non-political aspects of the current state of abortion access in America, including knowing key players in and politicians fighting for and against abortion access.
- Proficiency in graphic design programs such as Photoshop. Canva and editing software like Capcut.
- Proficiency with online tools including EveryAction, Google Apps, Sprout Social,
- Proficient in WordPress.
- Strong research skills for identifying platforms and organizations that could be good partners for AAF.
- Ability to create analytic reports for social media and website platforms.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a collaborative, partnership-driven manner.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Commitment to and alignment with AAF’s mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Photography, videography and animation skills.
Salary Range: Compensation for this role will vary depending on the experience of the candidate. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000.
