At a gathering of Occupy Uterus, aka anti-abortion extremists, Creepy Veep Mike Pence said he believes legal abortion will be banned in the US “in our time.” Um, abortion has been around forever, and it’s been recognized as a Constitutional right since “Crocodile Rock” topped the charts. The question is if we’re going to let Mike Pence and his ilk make it so that people have to go to back alleys to get 'em!

One of the ways they’re trying to destroy repro rights is by dragging them down with red tape. States regulate abortion clinics more than they do outpatient surgery facilities. And by “regulate” we mean “badger, harass, and intimidate.” This article shows the grim stats.

Speaking of unnecessary regulations, a clinic in Toledo has been put through the ringer by twirly-mustachioed politicians while just trying to provide healthcare. They’ve gotten the completely unnecessary  “patient-transfer agreement” with a local hospital that is “required in order to fuck over clinics,” but now the state is arguing that the clinic should have to start the whole licensing process over again, delaying them more!  Do not pass go! How about we stop playing the game of Monopoly with people’s lives!

Of course Pence-ifiers always have the straight ahead literal ban on abortion rights, which is pretty much the approach MISSISSIPPI (We’re #50!) is taking with their proposed 15-week abortion ban. This flagrantly unconstitutional “law” is a waste of time and taxpayer money (especially when the state has to pay for lawyers to defend what is *AGAIN* an unconstitutional law). See how it’s faring in this piece from Mississippi Today (is that an oxymoron?)

The Susan B. Anthony List & Life Institute luncheon/repro-rights-bashing bash where Mike Pence made his threat, I mean prediction, also saw Rep. Diane Black try to bring down the house with the burn “Abortion is not family planning—it’s family destruction!” Aaaawww yeah! Mic drop! Check out the video, yo!

After all that noise, let’s end on a sweeter, saner note. Refinery 29 has an excellent piece on women who are speaking out about their abortions. With people like Mike Pence or Diane Black trying to isolate those who need abortion care, it’s important you know “you are not alone.”
