So we saw this article titled “Sex-selective abortions: Reproductive rights are being pitted against gender equality” and were sort of like “Ugh!!!” Cuz, like we’ve known this and we just don’t want them to get any attention. The other side pulls this shit ALL the time and it’s so frickin’ useless and harmful it’s like… ENOUGH! “What about the UNBORN women”… like… come on. They’re like the men who are like “Well if you WANT equal rights then I don’t have to open the door for you.” You already don’t effing open the door for us, you fucking Knight in Shitty Armor, GIVE US EQUAL PAY.
The article spends a long time explaining like “this is not a thing and it’s racist.” DING DING DING. And we only bring it up for two reasons. ONE this quote:
“We’re not asking women to be judgmental. Knowing the reasons why a woman aborts is crucial in order to assess what kind of support she needs so she doesn’t have to make that choice.”
DO YOU ALL KNOW WHAT JUDGMENTAL MEANS??? Look, we’re all for making sure the systems are in place so that people feel they have reproductive control of their bodies and financially able to make the decision that is right for them. Uh, our side already does that. But we’re NOT for being like “We’re passing these laws because we want to make sure NO ONE HAS TO HAVE AN ABORTION.” You can’t control the whole effing world! And like, how frickin’ callous to be like “We’re gonna start by policing people on their reproductive rights decisions… instead of… you know… trying to end rape.” Their side is the equivalent of a guy letting a door slam in your face and saying it’s for equal rights.
And the article is especially relevant because it’s about Missouri and MISSOURI’S LAST ABORTION CLINIC IS STILL ON THE LINE THIS WEEK! That case is STILL happening.
And like… here’s the thing …
The organization points to the May conference call between Steele Shippy, then-communications director for Missouri Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, and Republican legislators and anti-abortion activists. The email invitation to the call ended with the phrase “#shutthemdown,” the Kansas City Star reported.
THIS FOOL USED A HASHTAG! TO SHOW THAT HE HAD A SECRET AGENDA! AND BY SECRET WE MEAN NOT SECRET AT ALL BECAUSE IT WAS WRITTEN IN AN EMAIL!
The Missouri story, if you don’t remember, is basically that the Health Department was forever trying to shut the clinic down and decided not to renew the license of the clinic. In general you’d think the state would WORK to ENSURE that the last remaining clinic would remain open and give them ample opportunity to comply and explanation of what they needed. That did NOT happen. And so here we go again. WOULD BE GREAT IF WE COULD TRUST IN THE PROCESS… but, we don’t like to feel optimistic now. We like to feel ready. So get ready.
