This is our one-stop shop to learn about all the different wings of the anti-abortion movement—those who do violence and harassment through “prayer” and those who do violence and harassment through old-fashioned violence and harassment. Each of these groups have their own brand of activism and their own followings. Some are regional, some are national, but all of them play a role in politics and have an impact on local, state and federal policy.
We’ve unmasked Operation Save America (OSA), one of the most extreme and dangerous anti-abortion groups in the country. AAF went inside OSA’s 2020 conference to expose the violent rhetoric of Christian supremacy OSA and its partner organizations use as an organizing tool to terrorize abortion providers, LGBTQ organizations and events, undocumented people, and the Movement for Black Lives.
We’ve unmasked the March For Life, a highly influential anti-abortion, anti-feminist organization that works with anti-birth control, anti-abortion, and anti-LGBTQ+ groups, including conservative houses of worship, lobbyists, and politicians, to not only end access to abortion, but to also to destroy civil rights for LGBTQ+ folks. It ain’t just a march.
And we’ve unmasked 40 Days For Life, the fetus fetishists who demonize providers and patients for two 40-day, 24/7 stretches a year, harassing people in front of clinics as they performatively pray for their damned souls.
Because the anti-abortion movement is a hydra, AAF wanted to break down all of the dangerous, hypocritical factions, so folks can learn about each of their own unique characteristics. We believe it is vital to understand the different tactics of these groups and how, despite how they might try to distance themselves from each other from time to time — when it’s good for PR, or when it’s good for access to the politicians they use to pass batshit, freedom-sucking laws that hurt all people, but particularly poor people and BIPOC — they’re all working toward the same goal: eliminating legal abortion and seizing people’s freedom to make choices that are best for their bodies and for their lives.
With each organization we unmask, you will learn about their history, their mission, see videos of their harassment, and see firsthand how their tactics affect patients, providers, and access to reproductive care. Abortion Access Front will also show you the actions we’ve taken in the past to counter these groups, and show you how to get involved in future actions. AAF tracks these groups throughout the year, and when they hold events, we organize calls to action to fight back with truth and humor, raising awareness about the harm they cause, helping protect clinics against their harassment, and holding politicians who promote their dangerous beliefs accountable.
