Abortion AF has a bunch of ways you can help eradicate the Comstock Act!

Here's How The Comstock Act Of 1873 Could Could Destroy Access to Abortion in 2025

Comstock is a law still on the books that bans sending anything through the mail which a 19th-Century influencer named Anthony Comstock deemed “obscene or pornographic.” Not just fun stuff like dildos and sexy magazines, but ALSO contraception, medical textbooks and “every article, instrument, substance, drug, medicine or thing” that could lead to an abortion. Yeah, it’s awful!

How Can We Rid America of the Comstock Act?

Senator Tina Smith has introduced the Stop Comstock Act in the Senate to finally kill off the dusty 1873 Comstock Act. In the House, Mary Gay Scanlon introduced the companion bill to make sure this relic can’t be twisted to block medication abortion or other reproductive healthcare through the mail. Now we need more members of Congress to step up and sign on. Check if your senator and representative are co-sponsoring the Stop Comstock Act—and if they’re not, it’s time to tell them to get on board and stop this zombie law for good.

  • Call Your Senator/Congress Person And Demand They Vote FOR Senator Tina Smith’s Stop The Comstock Act! Find YOUR Senator here then call and ask them to sign Senator Smith’s bill. Shy? We have a Script to help you!
  • Print out our incredible Zine and leave it anywhere you think people might need to hear the horrible word about Anthony Comstock. You could place it in your favorite dive bar bathroom or slip it between the couch cushions at your uncle's house, where he has that questionable Civil War collection.

Ok, Sure. Dude’s A Creep, But Would Modern Day Politicians REALLY Try To Enforce The Comstock Act?

YEP! They already are.

Justice Clarence Thomas warned the manufacturer of the abortion pill mifepristone, “Mailing your product and advertising it would violate the Comstock Act.”

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito called The Comstock Act a “prominent provision” and not some “obscure section of a complicated law.”

145 GOP Senators and Congressional members urged SCOTUS to use Comstock to ban mifepristone, claiming the FDA “blatantly disregarded” the law by allowing abortion pills by mail.
Project 2025 advises that the Comstock Act should be used to ban abortion.
